What Is an Initial Token Offering (ITO)?
An Initial Token Offering (ITO) is a type of crowdfunding that uses blockchain technology to raise funds for projects. It is similar to an initial coin offering (ICO), but instead of issuing coins, ITOs issue tokens. Tokens are digital assets that can be used as currency or represent ownership in the project they were issued for. They are typically built on top of existing blockchains such as Ethereum and Bitcoin, allowing them to take advantage of their security features and decentralized nature.
The purpose of an ITO is to allow companies or individuals to quickly raise capital without having to go through traditional venture capital channels. This allows startups with innovative ideas access to funding from investors who may not have been able to invest otherwise due to lack of resources or knowledge about the industry. Additionally, it provides investors with more transparency into how their money will be used since all transactions are recorded on the blockchain ledger which cannot be altered once written onto it.
