What Is Gas?
Gas is a state of matter that has no definite shape or volume. It is composed of molecules in constant motion, which means it can expand and fill any container. Gas is made up of atoms or molecules that are far apart from each other and move freely around the space they occupy. This makes gas highly compressible, meaning its density changes depending on pressure and temperature.
The most common gases include oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, methane, water vapor and argon. These gases make up the Earth’s atmosphere as well as many industrial processes such as combustion engines for cars and power plants for electricity generation. Gases also play an important role in chemical reactions by providing reactants with energy to break bonds between atoms so new compounds can form. In addition to this, some gases like helium are used in medical applications such as MRI scans due to their non-reactive nature when exposed to magnetic fields.
