What Is Consensus?

Consensus is a process of decision-making in which all members of a group agree on an outcome. It is based on the idea that everyone involved should have equal input and influence over the final result, rather than one person or faction having control. Consensus can be used to make decisions about anything from small everyday matters to large organizational issues. The goal is for everyone to come together and reach agreement without any individual feeling like their opinion was ignored or disregarded.

The consensus process involves open communication between all parties involved, allowing each person’s ideas and opinions to be heard before coming up with a solution that works for everyone. This type of decision-making requires patience, compromise, and understanding as it may take some time for people to come around to agreeing on something they are not initially comfortable with. Ultimately though, when done correctly consensus can lead to better outcomes since it takes into account multiple perspectives instead of just one point of view.
