What Is Ciphertext?
Ciphertext is a type of encrypted data that has been transformed using an encryption algorithm. It is the result of applying an encryption key to plain text, which scrambles the original message and makes it unreadable without knowledge of the decryption key. Ciphertext can be used for secure communication between two parties or for storing sensitive information in a secure manner.
The purpose of ciphertext is to protect confidential information from unauthorized access by making it difficult to decipher without knowing the correct decryption key. In order to decrypt ciphertext, one must have access to both the encryption algorithm and its associated secret key. Without this combination, any attempt at decoding will fail as there are no known methods for breaking modern ciphers without these components.
