What Is Anti-Malware?
Anti-malware is a type of software that helps protect computers and other devices from malicious programs, such as viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware, adware and ransomware. It works by scanning the computer for any suspicious activity or files that could be potentially harmful to the system. Anti-malware can also detect and remove existing malware on your device. The main purpose of anti-malware is to prevent damage caused by malicious software before it has a chance to do harm.
In addition to protecting against known threats, anti-malware can also help protect against new types of malware that have not yet been identified or classified. This is done through heuristic analysis which looks at how certain pieces of code behave in order to determine if they are likely malicious or not. By using this method along with signature based detection methods (which look for specific patterns associated with known threats), anti-malware provides an extra layer of protection against unknown threats as well as those already identified.
